White and Gold: One Colour Story Across Five 3ml Vial Cases
White outside, gold inside: we took one colour story and ran it across five of our 3ml vial cases — from a two-slot mini to a ten-slot storage case.
One of our long-time buyers asked me a simple question last month: why not just make the whole case black? She had a point — black hides scratches, hides colour drift, hides fingerprints. It is the forgiving colour. I promised her an honest answer, so here it is written down properly: white is harder, and the gold is the reward for getting it right. What came out of that conversation is the series below — one colourway (a white shell with gold-finish details and a gold insert) across five formats of our 3ml vial case family.
Why white is the hardest colour we mould
White PETG forgives nothing, and we learned that the slow way. A slight shade drift between two batches of material shows up on a finished shell as a visible seam. A flow mark near the gate, a scuff from a belt, a fingerprint from handling — on grey or black you would never see them; on white they are all you see.
So white sets the rules for the whole batch, and most of it is honestly just discipline: everything in one order — shell, lid, latch, insert — is moulded from the same material lot; colour is checked against a retained sample at the start of every run; and finished cases go into sleeves before the carton, so the shells do not rub against each other in transit. None of this is clever. It is just what white demands, order after order.
White outside, gold inside — where the gold actually sits
Closed, the case reads as one clean white object with a thin gold seam at the lid line. Open it and the palette flips: the insert, the latch strap, the hinge screws and the lid edge are all gold. That contrast is the whole idea of the series — the outside stays quiet so the inside can be loud.
The first thing buyers ask when the sample arrives is whether the gold is plated. It is not: these parts are moulded in gold-pigmented PETG — the colour runs through the wall of the part — so there is no plated layer to chip at the edges or wear shiny at the contact points. Same logic as the shell: colour decided in the material, not applied on top of it.

Why not gold on the outside too? Three honest reasons: large gold surfaces show every fingerprint and fine scratch; they photograph loudly next to a pharmacy-white vial; and a white lid is the cleanest canvas for your logo. So the gold goes where it counts — the seam line, the hardware, and the surface you actually see when the lid comes off.
Five formats, one colour story
The colourway is one decision; the format is another. All five formats below share the same white shell, gold-finish hardware and foam-lined lid — what changes is how many vials you are carrying. Each row links to its product page, where the full spec sheet and every photo live. They all belong to our wider line of Custom PETG Vial Boxes.
| Format | Holds | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 2-slot mini | two 3ml vials | single-SKU kits, pocket carry — 2-Slot 3ml Vial Case |
| 4×1 linear strip | four 3ml vials in one row (87 × 31 × 48 mm) | slim kits that lie flat in a box or drawer — 4-Slot Linear 3ml Vial Case |
| 2×2 compact | four 3ml vials | the square retail footprint most brands know — 3ml 4-Slot Vial Holder |
| 6-slot | six 3ml vials | weekly-dose kits and lab drawers — 6-Slot 3ml Vial Storage Box |
| 10-slot | ten 3ml vials | full-course kits, shelf storage — 10-Slot 3ml Vial Case |
One sizing note worth knowing up front: every cavity in this series is cut for the 16 mm vial body. A 2ml vial shares that diameter and is simply shorter, so it drops into the same cavity in all five formats — it just sits with a little less contact around the glass than a 3ml vial does. Same case, same insert; only how snugly the cavity holds the vial changes.
A detail from the workshop that photos rarely show: the smaller formats in this series turn on a single rear hinge screw, while the 10-slot lid runs on two — you can spot the pair of gold screws along the back edge. It is the largest lid in the range, and the second screw is what keeps it tracking straight when the case is opened flat on a bench, instead of racking to one side.

How to pick your slot count
Buyers usually overthink this one. Three questions settle it.
And if your line mixes vial sizes rather than counts, the better tool is our Multi-Size Vial Storage Box — one six-slot case whose dual-depth cavities carry 2ml, 5ml and 15ml vials in any combination. That is the box I reach for whenever a customer tells me their vials come in more than one size.
What we kept — and what we refused
A colourway is really a list of things you decide not to do. Three we are glad we refused:
- Gold on the outer shell. It would photograph strikingly for a week and show every fingerprint and scuff after that. The shell stays white; the gold waits inside.
- A rubber or silicone latch. The over-centre latch strap is moulded in the same PETG as the shell — one material, one colour system, nothing that ages differently from the case around it.
- Coloured foam. The foam lining the lid and cushioning the vials stays black on every format — a dark lining makes the gold insert read deeper, and it stops the colour story from turning into noise.
Your logo on a white lid
A white lid is the most honest printing surface we offer: every ink reads exactly as its Pantone card — no base coat, no white underprint. UV printing sits on the PETG without solvents, so the shell does not cloud around the print.
Logo printing is included free from MOQ 30 — send your artwork with the vial diameter and count, and we will send back a layout proof showing print position and size on the lid and base before anything goes to production.
And if you would like to see how a printed logo actually comes out before you commit to it, we have two easy answers. We can show you photos of lids we have already printed for other customers — only the ones those customers have cleared us to share — so you are looking at real ink on a real white shell instead of a mock-up. Or send us your own logo: we print it onto a case and show you the result, so you can judge your artwork in the material itself before the order goes ahead.
MOQ, samples and lead time
Samples take 5–7 days and production 15–25 days after artwork approval. This series starts at 100 pieces; some other products on our site start from 20. On price we would rather show than tell: every product page linked above carries its own indicative price range, so click through to the format you have in mind. Your firm quote moves with colour, logo and cavity layout as much as with volume — send us those details and you will have a number within one working day.
